Mission

To empower service members, veterans, and everyday warriors to face life’s toughest battles with self-awareness, resilience, and honest conversation. Through real stories, dark humor, and practical tools, Life’s a Bitch, Get a Helmet helps listeners protect their mindset, break stigma, and grow through what they go through.

Vision

To build a trusted community and resource hub where vulnerability becomes strength, leadership is grounded in empathy, and mental health is treated with the same urgency and respect as physical readiness. We envision a world where no one fights their internal battles alone—and every listener knows they’ve got the tools, and the team, to keep going.

About the Hosts

Andrew Freimuth (FRI)

Co-Host/Co-Founder

Fri has been called many names over the years, some of them pretty great—like Hubby, Sergeant, and his personal favorite, Daddo! With over four decades of experience navigating life as a Multi-Purposed (MP) individual across two very different career fields, Fri has always made it his mission to assist family, friends, and soldiers in any situation.

Life hasn’t always been kind. Fri has faced more lows than highs and has been knocked down more times than he can count. Living with undiagnosed PTSD, depression, and anxiety for years, he eventually discovered a simple truth: helping others brings purpose and healing. But as fulfilling as that was, he realized the real challenge—and the real growth—came from learning how to take care of himself the way he cared for everyone else.

That journey began six years ago and continues today as Fri pursues his educational goals. Currently working toward a Bachelor of Applied Science in Technical Management with a concentration in Project Management, he’s not stopping there. Fri plans to push through to earn his MBA and eventually a DBA, both with a focus on Project Management. These aspirations are part of his commitment to continuous improvement and equipping himself with the tools to inspire and empower others.

This podcast is an extension of that mission. Fri shares his experiences, tools, and hard-earned lessons in the hope that they’ll resonate with someone else who might need them. His goal? To help others while continuing to help himself.

Jimmy Bishop (Jimbo)

Co-Host/Co-Founder

Hunting, paintballing, buggies, or motorcycles—if it’s fast or outdoors, Jimbo will meet you there. After serving in the Army working on Blackhawks, Apaches, and his personal favorite, Chinooks, Jimbo returned to his first love: building and riding buggies and anything else with a motor.

Ask him about any engine, and he’ll light up with a passion that’s impossible to miss. That same spark shines brightest when he’s out on the open road, wind in his hair, and the roar of a bike beneath him. For Jimbo, motors aren’t just machines—they’re his peace, his therapy, and his freedom. They’re loud, bold, and resilient, much like him.

Beneath his tough exterior lies a heart of gold. Whether it’s helping family or supporting friends through hard times, Jimbo’s the guy you can count on—no matter what’s going on in his own life. His loyalty and kindness are as constant as the engines he loves, always running strong.
